Since April of 2010, Iron County has seen a steady decrease in unemployment. Currently, the unemployment rate is at 4.2%, which is lower than that nation's unemployment rate.
Iron County is located in the southwestern region of the state. Most of the area is rural, however, Iron County is home to Southern Utah University, the Southwest Applied Technology College, and boasts a number of amenities usually available in larger metropolitan areas, such as world-class theater and outstanding events and festivals.
Since December of 2015, Iron County has experienced an increase in non-farm jobs. Some of the biggest increases in jobs have been in the manufacturing, professional and business services, and educational, health and social services sectors. In total, Iron County has seen an increase of 747 jobs from non-farm jobs.
That is a 4.5% increase.
