Festival City USA: Where Athletes Compete



Utah Summer Games, one of the largest Olympic-style Amatuer sporting events in the country with 10,000 athletes competing for the Gold, Silver and Bronze in over 50 sports.  The Eccles Coliseum is home to the SUU Football team and the Opening Ceremonies annually for the USG athletes where the flame burns in the USG Cauldron throughout the three week competition.  



During the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympic Games Torch Relay, a ceremony was held in Southern Utah University's Eccles Coliseum and the Olympic Flame burned in the cauldron on Feb. 4, 2002. There the USG Cauldron was dedicated as an Olympic Legacy Monument in honor of all past, present and future Utah Summer Games athletes.
