Joe Burgess was elected mayor of Cedar City in November, 2009, for a four-year term which began in January, 2010. He was formerly a City Council member from 2002 to 2006.
A successful Cedar City businessman and entrepreneur who has now retired from the day-to-day operations of his businesses, he has set several goals for his tenure as mayor, including maintaining fiscal integrity for the City.
He has also said that he would like Cedarians to become the healthiest, most physically fit and financially secure citizens in America.
Mayor Burgess has lived in Cedar City since 1976. He and his wife Beverly are the parents of four and grandparents to nine.
