One of the dreams for young musicians is to reach a level of excellence that results in a solo performance with a full symphony orchestra. In honor of Cedar City’s beloved teacher Roy L. Halversen, we offer a young artist concert with soloists chosen by audition. Applicants’ videos are submitted in October followed by a live audition. Selected performers get the valuable experience of rehearsing and performing live with the orchestra. We have high hopes for our young artists, as many Halversen soloists have gone on to stellar musical careers. The evening will culminate with the epic Academic Festival Overture Op.80 to celebrate the achievements of all musicians, sending up a musical firework to close the season of delightful Musical Treasures.
