A few months ago a young man from Cedar City, working on his eagle project, came into the Cedar City offices with several photographs he had taken of tombstones from the Cedar City Cemetary. City Engineer, Troy Maxwell saw the photographs and agreed to use them on the Cedar City website in a GIS Interactive Mapping system he had put together of the Cedar City Cemetary. The project is currently a work in progress, but the work that has been accomplished so far has created some excitment for those who are interested in geneology work. You can search for people who may have been buried in the Cedar City Cemetary by first or last name. If they are buried in our cemetary information about their date of birth, where they were born, date of death, and other valueable records may be obtained. If the person you are searching for happens to be buried in Plat B of the Cemetary you may also view a photograph of their tombstone.
The interactive map of the Cedar City Cemetary may be found online at www.cedarcity.org --> Departments --> Parks and Outdoor Facilities --> Cemetary.
