Citizens interested in running for the mayor position or one of two seats on the city council for the term beginning January 2010 must file a Declaration of Candidacy with the City Recorder,10 North Main Street, Cedar City, Utah, during regular office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. between July 1, and July 15. To be eligible, one must be a United States citizen at the time of filing, be a registered Cedar City voter and be a resident of Cedar City, or a resident of a recently annexed area for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election. If more than two eligible candidates for the mayor or more than four eligible candidates for the council seats file, a primary election will be held Tuesday, September 15. The general election will be Tuesday, November 3.
