The commission, appointed by Governor Huntsman, was set up after it was determined that Utah is facing a crisis with respect to democratic participation. In 2006, Utah had the lowest voter turnout in the country and nearly the lowest participation in 2008, despite a long history of stellar democratic participation.

The commission meeting is scheduled from 3 - 6 p.m. on Friday, July 31.
The commission will hear public comment for the final hour, from 5 - 6 p.m.
Who:
The public is welcome to participate in this final session of the commission’s meeting. Here, citizens will meet the distinguished members of the commission and comment on individual and social perspectives concerning this critical issue.

Hosted by the Michael O. Leavitt Center for Politics & Public Service, the Governor’s Commission will convene in the Cedar Breaks room of Southern Utah University’s Sharwan Smith Student Center.
