Southern Utah’s football team plays its final Great West Conference game of the 2008 season this Saturday when the Thunderbirds host South Dakota at 1:00 p.m. in Eccles Coliseum.
The Thunderbirds (4-5, 1-2 Great West), are coming off a come-from-behind 15-14 win at North Dakota last Saturday, a win which marks SUU’s first GWC road win since the league was formed in 2004. The win also snapped a two-game losing streak and gave the school its most wins since the 2006 squad finished 6-5.
South Dakota (5-3, 0-1 GWC) has won three in a row after beginning the season 2-4, but all three wins have come against Division II competition. The Coyotes have won the last three by a combined score of 105-6, however, with a 37-0 home shutout of Southern Oregon last week, a 34-3 win at North Greenville on Nov. 1, and a 34-3 win over Missouri S&T on Oct. 11. USD had a two week layoff between the Missouri S&T and the North Greenville games.
